A little About The Little Thoughts
My name is Alex Neill, and I am a jewellery designer/maker based at a small workshop in Devon. Initially I started making jewellery for myself, and then eventually quit my unfulfilling job after being encouraged by family members to take a risk and follow my creative passions. That’s when The Little Thoughts was born.
THE LITTLE THOUGHTS is the name I dreamt up as an umbrella term for the jewellery (and anything else) I make. All of my ideas start off as a little thought sparked by something or nothing at all, and can pop into my head at any time of the day or night!
I mainly work in copper, but love to use bronze, brass, silver and pewter as well. I also love raw natural stones, and mixing things up with fabrics and wire I especially like to experiment, texture and fuse metals to make bold, chunky, one-off pieces that evoke a sense of history. That history could be something around our own ‘old world’, or that of an archeological dig-site on another planet in some far away galaxy.
